With deep love and heavy hearts, we celebrate the life of Gloria H. Perez (93), who passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Gloria was a woman whose warmth, resilience, and love shaped the lives of all who knew her. Her presence was a comfort, her laughter a joy, and her heart big enough to hold generations of family close.
Gloria found happiness in life’s simplest and sweetest moments — whether it was losing herself in her favorite novelas, playing Elvis Presley records, or spending time with her grandchildren, often in the kitchen where she showed her love through every meal she prepared. Cooking for her family, especially her grandkids, brought her the deepest joy — and her food will be remembered not just for its taste, but for the love it was made with.
Red rose was her favorite flower — beautiful, classic, and full of quiet strength, much like Gloria herself. She had a special gift for sewing and poured that talent into every dress she lovingly made for her daughters when they were young, stitching care into every seam. She was a provider, a nurturer, and a pillar of strength, raising her children as a single mother with grace and determination.
She is survived by her devoted children: Yolanda Rodriguez (Armando Rodriguez), Rogelio Perez, Isabel P. Zavala (Santiago Zavala Jr.), Norma Fuente, and Brenda Reyna; her treasured grandchildren: Bobby McCall, Yvonne McCall, Adan McCall, Armando Rodriguez Jr., Santiago Zavala III, Jennifer Zavala, Stephanie Zavala, Jessica Zavala, Ashley Zavala, Vanessa Perez, Valerie Perez, Eric Perez, Jeanette Perez, Crystal Perez, and Roy Perez Jr., a cherished daughter-in-law Maria Perez and many beloved great-grandchildren and extended family.
Gloria was a loving sister to Juana Mendez, Rachel Hernandez, Teresa Hernandez, David Hernandez, Juan Hernandez, Ricardo Hernandez.
She now joins her parents, Baldomero and Teresa Hernandez, her son Raul Perez Jr., and her siblings Rebecca Jaramillo, Estella Vasquez, Maria Rodriguez, and Baldomero Hernandez Jr., in eternal peace.
Gloria’s life was one of devotion — to her family, her faith, and her role as a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her legacy lives on in the stories, traditions, and love she leaves behind.
A visitation for Gloria will occur Friday, June 27, 2025 from 11AM - 9PM with a prayer service at 6PM. A chapel service will occur Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 1PM with a burial to follow. All services will be held at Funeraria Del Angel Highland and Memorial Park, 6705 N. FM 88, Weslaco, TX 78596.
She was our rose — strong, beautiful, and full of love.
Rest in peace, Gloria. You will always be in our hearts.
