

Lydia is survived by her loving husband Robert Garcia, daughter Yvonne (Juan) Cano, son Andy (Nere) Garcia, 3 granddaughters, Alex, Trinity and Elida Garcia, and 3 grandsons, JonRik, Akiliez and Troy Cano.
Lydia is now reunited with her parents Gilberto Rendon and Elida Rendon and her sister Yolanda Reyes.
Born in Edcouch, Texas to migrant farm workers and moving from town to town, she met the love of her life Robert Garcia with whom she spent 58 years in marriage. Lydia attended Asbury college, West Texas state and finished at Pan American with her Bachelors in Education. Education was her passion which started by an emergency license to teach in Relapago, Texas. She was the first Hispanic teacher in Herford, Texas. Lydia, was an elementary teacher for La Villa I.S.D for twenty years in which she decided she need to further her education and received her Masters as a school counselor. She started her counseling career in Weslaco I.S.D. and finished in Donna I.S.D. Her love for children was also shown at First Baptist church as she would plan all year for vacation bible school and Sunday school.
Visitation for Lydia will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 1:00 PM till 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 6:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Highland, 6705 N. FM 88 Weslaco, Texas 78599. Visitation will continue Wednesday, August 14, 2024 starting at 8:00 AM, a chapel service will be held at 10:00 AM, followed by the burial at 11:00 AM at Highland Memorial Park, Weslaco, Texas 78599.
