Petra M. Rodriguez

Petra was born on October 13, 1929 to the late Julian Mesa and Blasa M. Avila. She married the love of her life, the late Jesus R. Rodriguez, in 1948. Together, they raised their ten children in Weslaco, Texas. She devoted her life to ensuring her family was well cared for and will be remembered as the central figure in the lives of her children and many grandchildren. She was proud of her family and leaves behind beautiful memories in the hearts of those she loved.

She is survived by her sons Julian (Josefina) Rodriguez, Margarito (Alicia) Rodriguez, Adan Rodriguez (Micaela Gonzales), Rodrigo (Corina) Rodriguez, Eloy (Thelma) Rodriguez; her daughters Sulema (Erasmo) Cuellar, Irma Villa (Lupe Ruiz), Elizabeth (Javier) Villa and Socorro (Juan) Acosta; sister Rafaela Gonzalez; brother Trinidad Mesa; twenty-eight grandchildren and thirty-three great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband; son Alberto M. Rodriguez; grandson Charlie Rodriguez; granddaughter Carmen Lourdes Cuellar; sisters Elvira M. Barrios and Juana Alamillo and brothers Epifanio Mesa and Manuel Mesa.

Family will receive friends Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 3 pm to 9 pm with a rosary recited at 7 pm at Funeraria del Angel Highland in Weslaco. Funeral service will be held at 2 pm, Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Funeraria del Angel Highland in Weslaco. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Funeraria del Angel Highland of Weslaco.
