Porfirio Gonzalez

WESLACO – Porfirio Gonzalez passed away on October 21, 2017 at the age of 91. Porfirio was born in Mercedes, Texas on February 26, 1926 to Gregorio Gonzalez and Guadalupe Perez Gonzalez.

Porfirio is preceded in death by his loving wife, Virginia Barrientes Gonzalez, and his parents and siblings (Alberto Gonzalez, Epifanio Gonzalez, and Josefa Sanchez) and step mother Maria Gonzalez, who helped raise him.

Porfirio is survived by his sister, Victoriana Aldape, brother, Albert Aldape, and his children, Mary Elizabeth Gonzalez, Rolando Gonzalez (Diane), Irma G. Rodriguez (Johnny), Ricardo Gonzalez (Stella), Reymundo Gonzalez, Cynthia Gonzalez (Joe). He was especially proud of his grandchildren, Miguel Gonzalez, Stephen Gonzalez, Cassandra Villalpando, Kimberly Gonzalez, Anthony Gonzalez, Veronica Maldonado, Christopher Gomez, Daniel Gomez, Gabriel Gonzalez, Miranda Gonzalez and his seven great grandchildren, Robyn, Hailey, Alex, Everlie, Aubree, Kayleb, and Eleanor.

Porfirio served in the Air Force during WWII and was dedicated to his family all his life. He was loved by his family and extended family and will be missed by all. He was also a long time employee of Valley Ready Mix Concrete Company in Weslaco for many years.

A visitation for Porfirio will be held Monday, October 23, 2017 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Highland Funeral Home , 6705 N FM 88, Weslaco , Texas 78596. A rosary will occur Monday, October 23, 2017 at 7:00 PM, 6705 N FM 88, Weslaco, Texas 78596. A mass will occur Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church , 109 S Illinois Ave, Weslaco , Texas 78596. An interment will occur Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Highland Memorial Park , 6705 N FM 88, Weslaco , Texas 78596. A burial will occur Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 11:00 PM at Highland Memorial Park, 6705 North Fm 88, Weslaco, TX 78596.
