

Charles Edward Hendrix was born on December 11, 1938, in Bibb County, Alabama to Richard and Zelma Hendrix. He graduated from Carver High School in Gadsden, AL and attended Alabama A&M University. Charles was a church member of First Baptist where he was ordained as a Deacon.
In 1959 Charles enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed in San Diego, California, receiving an honorable discharge in 1963. After his service in the Navy, Charles stayed in California and moved to Los Angeles where he continued doing Government work. He was employed as a machinist for the Long Beach Naval Shipyard until he retired. Upon retirement he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golfing, and traveling.
In 1970 Charles welcomed his only child, daughter Nicole Hendrix. Charles would later meet and marry Doris Nell Ross in 1972, who preceded him in death in 1989. He later met and spent the last 25+ years with partner Janice Wilson.
Charles was a calm, easy going, responsible, strong, dependable man that his family, loved ones, and friends could count on. Charles was a God-fearing man whose character reflected his beliefs. He was a comfort, a great man that many love, respect, and will truly miss.
Charles Edward Hendrix was called to rest Monday, February 9, 2026, at home surrounded by loved ones. He was a brother, cousin, uncle, father, husband, partner, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to many. He leaves to mourn his life and cherish his memories daughter Nicole (Marcus); two sisters Algertha and Dorthy; two brothers Larry (Marilyn) and Venard (Valarie); one granddaughter LaTeisha; three grandsons - DaRonn, Jordan, and Zaire; two great-grandsons - Carter and Marcel; one great-granddaughter Liana; partner Janice Wilson; nieces - Lesley, Kristina; and nephews – Wilbert, Richard along with a host of other relatives and friends who will always love and cherish his memories.
