Audrey A. Motzko

Audrey Motzko, 85, of West Des Moines, passed away Sunday, May 8, 2011. Visitation for Audrey will be at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Norwalk from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2011, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. After the luncheon, the burial service will follow at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.

Audrey Ann Motzko was born February 24, 1926 in St. Paul, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Henry and Anna Kennedy. She married Richard Motzko on October 5, 1946. Audrey was a homemaker and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and the outdoors with her husband. They traveled extensively together.

She was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church in Norwalk, and was especially active with the ladies retreat (Christ Renews His Parish). She was a past President of the Plainview Community Club, and enjoyed bowling in an Airlanes Bowling League. She was past President of the Greater Des Moines Garden Club and enjoyed her flower gardens.

Survivors include her three children; Linda (Pete) Svec of Cumming, Rick (Sue) Motzko of Norwalk and Sandy (Tim) Alexander of West Des Moines; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Loretta (Charles) Kopp of St. Paul, MN; one brother, Henry (Rose) Kennedy of Roswell, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Ann, her husband, Richard, a brother, Daniel Kennedy, and her sister, Leonora Roeller. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to West Des Moines Human Services.
