Britt was born on March 7, 1955, in Des Moines, Iowa to Howard and Evelyn (Swagel) Van Syoc. Growing up, Britt enjoyed hunting and fishing. While in high school he was instrumental in starting the Soccer Club at Valley before soccer became a sport there. Following high school, he attended Iowa State University and was an Alumni Association member. During his time in Ames, he was a volunteer at the crisis helpline and enjoyed helping people who needed it.
Britt was fascinated with flying. He intended to join the Air Force, but due to being color blind, he was unable. He did however obtain his personal pilots license and became a flying enthusiast. He was a career security officer at Jordan Creek Mall, and had been doing that since 2008. Before his security career, Britt dreamed of being an entrepreneur and started a company called Global Consulting. With this, he was able to travel the world to places like India, the Taj Mahal and China.
He was a spiritual man, and was a follower of the Eckankar religion. Britt loved family gatherings and was well liked. He was an avid reader and dog lover.
Britt is survived by his mom, Evelyn E. Van Syoc - Hopper (Garland "Bud" Hopper); brother, Scott (Sheryl) Van Syoc; niece, Jamie Van Syoc; great-nephew, Anton Van Syoc; uncle, Pat Knoer; aunt, Katie Iverson; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his dad, Howard Van Syoc; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
