Craig Delmar Hicks

Craig Hicks, 64, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Hospice Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines with a private family burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.

Craig was born in Des Moines the son of Raymond and Jean Hicks and was a lifelong resident. He worked at several fastener distribution companies including Des Moines Bolt Supply, Inc. Before retiring he also ran a handyman business. In past years Craig was involved at Highland Park Christian Church as a Deacon, van driver, Sunday school teacher, and assisted with church services. He coached Little League baseball when his boys were young. He was a history buff and enjoyed watching the History channel and home repair shows on T.V. He liked helping people work on their houses and everyone valued his advice on how to fix things.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Juanita; four children, Sarah Hicks of Des Moines, Jeffrey Hicks of Des Moines, Jason Hicks of Grimes, and Shannon (Brett) Bodwell of Johnston; and two brothers, Chris Hicks of Austin, Texas and Curte Hicks of Grimes. Craig was preceded in death by his grandson, Devin; sister, Carin Lunn; and his parents.
