Daniel Arthur Linnett was born January 12th, 1954 in Pasadena, TX. Despite dealing with the difficulty of losing both parents at an early age, Dan flourished. He graduated from the prestigious Rice University in Houston, Texas. Dan earned his CPA and quickly rose in ranks of the accounting world. His brilliance in the oil industry took him and his family all over the world: Moscow, Russia (95’-00’), Almaty, Kazakhstan (00’) Geneva Switerland (00’-05’) and London, England (05’-08’).
Dan retired after suffering a brain aneurism and several strokes in 2007. Despite all the odds stacked against him, and after several surgeries and months of rehabilitation, Dan was able to come home. Dan and his wife bought a home in the mountains of Tennessee to retire. In his final years, Dan and his wife spent the majority of their time in Des Moines, Iowa to spend more time with family and help run their franchise of IHOPs. God finally called his name on October 2nd.
Dan’s talents were endless. He built tree houses, decks and fountains for his homes. He was an Eagle Scout, painter, golfer, and could name the year of the album and artist of any Classic Rock song. He would never shy away from a pool game and always asked to play whenever family, friends, or guests were visiting. “The sky is the limit” had no bearing with Dan as he was an avid power-motor paraglider as well.
In addition to his beloved wife, Edie and his children, Catherine, Daniel, Stephen and Jonathan, Dan is survived by his brother David, nephew Kenneth, in-law Sherry, nephew Andrew and niece Laura. Dan is also survived by 14 grandchildren: Anthony, Carolyn, Jocelyn, Robert, Josh, Issac, Samuel, Leah, Lily, August, Asher, Grace, Luke, and Jack. He is preceded in passing by his parents Carl and Goldie, sister Diane, in-laws LeRoy, Mary Lee, Andy, Jesse and Bill.
The family held a private funeral this week and asks that any donations made in Dan’s honor go to Lutheran Church of Hope in Waukee, IA.
