Danny Dwayne Danford

Danny Dwayne Danford, age 71, of Grimes, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024. A visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at McLaren's Chapel in West Des Moines from 6 - 8 p.m. with a time of sharing at 8 p.m.

Danny was married to the love of his life Kenna Jean. They were blessed with their first son, Matthew while living in Indianola. Soon after they decided to move their family to Des Moines. It was there they continued trying to grow their family. It took a few years of trying but they were finally blessed with another son, Jacob.

Danny supported his family working for the City of Des Moines Public Works Department driving trucks and plowing snow in the winter. He worked for the city for 30+ years until finally having to retire in 2012. After retiring, he could be found watching his westerns, spending time with his two boys and his grandchildren passing on his love of motorcycles, hunting, fishing and especially playing cribbage. He could regularly be found playing cards at the senior center, or sitting outside having a smoke and making new friends with those out walking and all of mother natures critters. Danny was always happy to share a smile and a story with all he would meet. You were never a stranger with him around.

Danny is survived by his sons, Matthew (Jennifer) Danford and Jacob (Amanda) Danford; grandchildren, Madison Joy, Ava Mae, and Raelynn Jean; mother-in-law, Ruth Rasko; and cousin, Mark (Betty and son Bryan) Danford. And many other extended family members. He was preceded in death in by his wife, Kenna Jean; parents, Joseph "Cappy" and Ruth Danford; brother, Michael Leo Danford; and father-in-law, Kenneth Warren Rasko.
