Doris Jean Fuhrhop of West Des Moines passed away peacefully on January 7, 2020 at Bishop Drumm Care Facility in Johnston. A visitation will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 10, 2020 at McLaren’s Funeral Chapel in West Des Moines with a funeral service at 12 p.m. Burial will take place at Resthaven Cemetery.
Doris was born to Ray and Geneva (Whitehead) Jennings on March 7, 1931 in McClure, Ohio. After she graduated from McClure High School she met her husband, Bud Fuhrhop; they were united in marriage on December 23rd, 1951 and were blessed with two daughters, Sandy and Susie. As a family they relocated to Iowa in 1969. After Bud passed away in 1975, Doris went into the workforce as a seamstress for Brandeis Alterations and Valley Bride.
In addition to being a seamstress and making clothing for her family and friends, Doris was an avid gardener and loved to plant roses and lilies in her garden. She also enjoyed refinishing furniture and antiques with Bud.
Doris is survived by her daughters, Sandy (Bill) Moore of Urbandale and Susie (Russ) Lenocker of Dexter; grandchildren, Courtney Moore of Urbandale and Jackson Lenocker of Earlham; great-grandchildren, Serenity and Roxas; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bud Fuhrhop; siblings, Irene, Zelma, Esther, and Marvin; and her parents.
