Duane Rex Burk, 86, passed away Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at his home. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Iowa Veterans Cemetery at a later date.
Duane was born December 7, 1937 in Boone, IA to Chester Levi and Mary Charlotte (Penninger) Burk. He graduated from Rippey High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force. Duane met his wife Patricia in 1963 and the two were married on February 1, 1964 and shared 60 years together. He worked for Massey Ferguson and Wright Welding Supply until his retirement.
Duane is survived by his wife, Patricia; daughter, Kathy (Brian) Schramm; son, Steve Burk; grandchildren, Conner and Kendra Schramm and Asher Burk; sister, Dorothy Sheckler, brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Jan Kersey; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, John (Jeane) Burk; and mother and father-in-law, Hazel and Loren Culley.
