Eliza Katarzyna Nosek Ringo, 35, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017, in Santee, CA. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at McLaren's Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines with a rosary in Polish at 7 p.m. A funeral mass and celebration of her life will be held 10 a.m. Friday, September 1, 2017 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Des Moines with interment at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines.
Eliza was born July 17, 1982 in Tarnow, Poland to Andrzej and Maria Nosek. Eliza moved to Des Moines, Iowa from Poland with her family in 1993 at age 11. Eliza attended and graduated Lincoln High School and continued her education at Iowa State University with a degree in finance. Eliza met Adam in Des Moines and shortly after getting married they moved to California.
Eliza was someone who was very active and enjoyed the outdoors. You could always find her playing tennis, skiing, running, hiking, rollerblading, playing ping pong and biking. Her father taught her how to ski at an early age and she loved her ski trips to Colorado with him. In her adult years, she loved to share her passion for the outdoors with her husband and many of her friends. She was known to have a competitive edge whether it was running a marathon, racing down the mountain or playing cards with her brother until five in the morning.
Eliza was also an excellent cook always attempting to perfect her mother’s Polish recipes or improvising and coming up with exotic fusion such as combining Polish and Asian cuisines. In her love for food she was known to eat dinner for breakfast would it be Polish golabki, pierogi, Asian noodles, or pizza.
Anyone who knows Eliza, knows she had a strong tendency to be frugal. The Nosek family always had a family saying that Eliza would hold on and had the capability to squeeze the quarter until it turned hot red. This was the only way one could pry the quarter out of her hand. Her favorite color was green and her favorite quotes included:
“Polak potrafi, o tak potrafi i zrobi”- some wise Polish guy.
“What do you mean I have everything I want. Where is my pony bitch?”- Lindsay.
Her smile, dimples and contagious laugh will be remembered by all of us and her memory will live on.
Eliza is survived by her husband Adam Ringo, her parents Maria and Andrzej and her brother Lukasz Nosek who will miss her every day.
