Francis “Frank” Gene Biagioli, 60, died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
Frank was born June 11, 1953 in Des Moines. He grew up in West Des Moines where he attended Sacred Heart School and Dowling High School. Frank earned his undergraduate degree in elementary education from St. John’s University in Collegeville, MN and his master’s degree in administrative education from Iowa State University.
Frank was a teacher and Vice Principal at Sacred Heart School, a staff developmental instructor at Woodward State Hospital, Executive Director of the Iowa Gambling Treatment Program, and worked for the Department of Public Health and the Department of Human Services.
Frank spent his free time enjoying little league baseball, 16 inch softball, running marathons, coaching sports and giving away his homemade apple pies. He was an avid reader, scrabble tournament player, book club member, state and local community supporter and New York Yankee fan.
Frank was a devoted son, loving brother, supportive uncle and caring friend. He shared his generous spirit with everyone.
Frank is survived by his mother, Josephine; brother, Joseph; sisters, Therese (Burley) Davis and Rosemary Neel; and many nieces, nephews and relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Deno; brother, Daniel; and brother-in-law, Scott Neel.
Frank’s family would like to thank Dr. Thomas Buroker and the staff at the John Stoddard Cancer Center for their loving care throughout Frank’s journey.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the John Stoddard Cancer Center in Des Moines, IA.
