

Gregg Allen Erwood, 61, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 30, 2021. Memorial services will be at 11:00 am Saturday, June 5, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. In lieu of a visitation, the family will visit with friends and guests at a luncheon immediately following the service in the church courtyard.
Gregg was born on April 23, 1960 in Des Moines to Sheldon and JoAnn (Clements) Erwood. He graduated from Valley High School in 1978 and the University of Iowa in 1982. While attending U of I, he was a member of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity (Iowa Alpha Chapter). After graduation he began working for National Travelers Life Company in 1983, where he retired in 2019.
In 1984 he married the love of his life, Janelle Parker and together they had two children, Ashley and Scott. Gregg’s interests included golfing, camping, NASCAR Racing, cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Iowa Hawkeyes. He loved to spend time with his family and playing with his grandchildren Hadley, Shae, and Liam.
Gregg is survived by his wife Janelle, daughter Ashley (Nate) Lossner of Norwalk, son Scott of Waukee, brother Brent C. Erwood (Susan) of Leawood, Kansas; sister-in-law, Patti Erwood of Atlanta, Georgia; 3 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Sheldon Clark and JoAnn Yvonne Erwood, and brother, Dr. Scott C. Erwood.
