Gregory Lee Mowrey, 63, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2022 after a heroic, four year battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines with a memorial service at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Resthaven Cemetery.
Greg was born August 3, 1958, in Des Moines, IA to Marvin and Ruth Mowrey. He graduated from Iowa State University with degrees in sociology and economics. Greg used those skills in his career as an account manager for industrial manufacturing and factory automation companies. He was very passionate about building relationships with his clients and solving their problems. Greg spent most of his free time in the garage restoring old motorcycles and cars. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, riding dirt bikes with his son, listening to live music, and watching his children and grandchildren grow up.
Greg is survived by his parents, Marvin and Ruth Mowrey of Des Moines; daughter, Jenna (Mowrey) Blair and her husband, Kyle Blair of Des Moines; son, Scott Mowrey and his fiancée, Alexis Adamowski of West Des Moines; four grandchildren, Arianna, Liam, Beau, and Milah Blair; brothers, Brian Mowrey of Urbandale and Brad Mowrey of Iowa City.
