Jack was born September 14, 1942 in Davenport and was raised in Des Moines. He graduated from the University of Iowa with a Masters of Fine Arts Degree in English and was a reservist for the National Guard. He began his working career as a teacher, magazine editor, and freelance writer, including writing television and movie scripts. He later worked for Mattel and was responsible for all phases of entertainment development, including the character “He-Man.”
Jack finished his working career as a professor at Citrus College in Glendora, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ramona Wood. He is survived by a sister, Shan (Frank) Ince of Des Moines and Florida. He was a loving Uncle to his sister’s children and grandchildren. He also loved his kitties and sports cars.
