Jim Arrasmith, 84, of West Des Moines, Iowa, died on January 4. 2026. A graveside service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 12, 2026, at Resthaven Cemetery, 801-19th Street in West Des Moines 50265.
Jim was born in Guthrie Center, Iowa on August 31,1941 to Robert and Virginia Arrasmith. He attended Guthrie Center Elementary School and graduated from Guthrie Center High School. A few years after high school Jim began working for his father-in-law building cabinets. It was then that his passion for cabinetry was realized and spent the next 45 years designing, building, and installing his creations. Jim's Woodworking wasn't just a business; it was his life.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Virginia Arrasmith; sister, Jean Smith; brother, David Arrasmith; wife, Linda Arrasmith; and sons, Steve Arrasmith and Jon Lyons. He is survived by his brother, John Arrasmith (Carol); son, Jack Arrasmith (Bridget); daughter, Jodi Lyons; daughters-in-law, Barbara Arrasmith and Jackie Lyons; granddaughter, Amanda Arrasmith Kerr (Amber); granddaughter, Madison Arrasmith; grandson, Jake Lyons; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to an organization or the donor’s choice.
