Ralph & family, So sorry to hear about your mother.  Didn't know her but sounds like she was a really special lady.  I remember you from Capitol Intermediaries/EW Payne/Sedgwick Payne days.  (I hope I have the right person).  You were such a neat young man and you could tell you had a good upbringing.  May God wrap his arms around all of your family as you go thru' this loss together.

Dear Cousins Charles & Ralph & families: I am sorry for not doing this much sooner. Pam and I were sorry to hear about Aunt Jean's passing. She and your dad Uncle Jim were always the gracious hostess and host when ever we were in the neighborhood, usually passing through by car. I always liked talking to Aunt Jean because she was so pleasant and interested in what you had to share with her. And I must add Uncle Jim would listen and also give you his opinion in a discussion, usually with a joke attached :) Even though visits were infrequent, we enjoyed them when we did get together. At Uncle Andy's Funeral, I was not aware cousin Ralph was there until cousin Jeff told me - Ralph was then going from there to attend his son's graduation from a school in Georgia (I hope I remembered that correctly). It would have been great to speak to you Ralph, sorry I missed that opportunity. I think the last time we spoke was when you all visited Washington, DC in the 1970's. Prior to that, we hadn't spoken since the 50th wedding anniversary in the 1960's, remember that event? May the Lord grant you all his perfect peace which passes all understanding. My heart goes out to Ralph, Joyce, Charlie, LuAnn, their families and to all that knew Jean. 
My memories are collective as there are so many that I would have to write a book if I mentioned each one individually.  She was more than just Ralph's mother to me she treated me like another son. Always there if I needed a hug or just someone to sit down and talk to. 

 Jean, or Mom as I knew her, was a second mother to me.  I can remember coming to Waukee to visit Ralph and forgot to bring a nice shirt (for when we went out to eat) and when I mentioned it she said “don't worry Jim will take you and Ralph out and buy you one”.  I could have worn a T-Shirt but she wanted us all to look nice when we went out. 

She set the example for all of us, in everything she did. She was the model image of what the perfect mother / wife would be, never to be duplicated, and beautiful in every aspect of the word.  The mold was broken when she passed but will never be forgotten. 

 I know mom is in a better place now. Now she is an angel in heaven and we are left with wonderful memories. Memories of a beautiful, loving, and giving individual that inspired in the ones she touched to separate right from wrong.  Morals and principles instilled that sometimes the best answer is not often the easy answer, but with God by your side you can do anything.   She truly was the example of Heaven on Earth.

I as many others will miss Jean, but knowing she is now in the hands of our Lord I know she is in a better place. May God be with all who mourn the loss  but rejoice in your entrance to Heaven!!

Our family was so saddened to hear of the passing of your mother/grandmother.  I only had one opportunity to meet her and that was at your wedding.  She was a loving, gracious lady and from stories Kurt has shared from childhood, like a second mother to him. Dear Charlie and Ralph,
I am so sorry to hear about your Mom's passing.  I have such fond memories of her and your Dad at the farm in Iowa...and then when I passed through "Des Moines" on my way home from Beatrice, Nebraska (my first teaching job).  Your Mom and Dad were a pleasant "half-way" point and I was always welcomed with open arms...and a few loud BARKS and licks!!

Charlie, I am so sorry about the loss of your mom.  My memory of her will always be calling looking for you when you weren't in your office.  And Perkins.  Your family is in my thoughts.

Mrs. Bone was my 1st grade teacher over 30 years ago in Van Meter.  I loved her so much back then and carry fond memories in my heart!  I am a teacher now, and pray that am I able to touch children's hearts in much the same way she did!
