Jerry was born in California to the late Fred and Marietta Kranzler and grew up in Custer, South Dakota. He was also preceded in death by his brother James Kranzler and sister Carol Hokanson.
Jerry graduated from South Dakota State University where he met the love of his life, Jean. He served 20 years as an Engineer in the United States Air Force. Upon retirement he continued to work for Johnson Controlled World Services and then the USPS. Jerry relished being involved with his children’s activities, golfing, and offering his talents through Parish ministries and the American Legion. He did not meet a dog he did not love, especially his Bunny Bear and Delilah.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife, Jean Lydon Kranzler, of 53 years, daughter Kerri (Andy) Conlon with sons Jake, Zac, and Regan; son Sean (Jen) Kranzler with daughter Izzy and son Mac; son Ryan (Tonya) Kranzler with daughters Ciara and Kaela; brother Bob Carrico; and sister Jeanne McLemore.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday, November 25th, followed by an 11:00 Mass at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 3663 66th St., Urbandale, Iowa. The burial service will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 28th, at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery (Van Meter).
