Jim Goff

James "Jim" Andrew Goff, 64, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 9:48 a.m. in Waukee, Iowa. A small Memorial time will be held in Des Moines, Iowa where his daughters and grandsons reside.

Jim was born in Jacksonville, Florida, to George Francis Goff, Sr. and Beryl Ruth Thompson. He was united in marriage to Debra Ann Yopp on December 7, 1979. Together they were blessed with two daughters, Ashley Noel Goff and Jamie Lynne Goff.

Besides spending time with his family, Jim served in the Sarasota County Fire Department for many years: he loved saving lives. Upon retirement, to keep busy, Jim was a handyman who loved to build and fix things. He enjoyed spending time with his BayFlite 2 family and working on the helicopters, and in his down time he loved to go fishing.

He is survived by his two daughters, Ashley Amick and Jamie Goff; five grandsons (he called The James Gang), Taylor James, James Flettre, Mason Michael, Brody Joel, and Drake Brandon. Also surviving are his "Mom" Betty L. Russell; brother, Byron Schenk; nephew, Merlin Schenk; niece, Heather Saxon; and lifelong friends, Michael Evans and Sidney "Butch" Evans.

Last but not least, Jim is survived by his firefighter brothers and his Bayflite 2 family.
