Urbandale
Joyce died Monday, December 16, 2013, in Urbandale surrounded by her family. A memorial service for Joyce will be on Saturday, December 28, 2013, at 2 p.m. at the Grimes Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses 2380 SE 37th Street, Grimes, IA, 50111.
Joyce was born in Milwaukee, WI, and moved to Iowa in 1959. She graduated High School from Arlington Heights, IL. She married Lonny Perdue on February 3, 1964, and had a wonderful marriage close to 50 years.
She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on November 29, 1958. She was a teacher of God’s Word, the Bible, spending 13 years as a regular pioneer. She was a loyal, loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many. She will be deeply missed. We look forward to welcoming her back to a paradise earth.
We have beautiful memories of Joyce. She loved being a mother and taking care of her three children. She delighted in having her grandchildren around her as much as possible. She loved going to garage sales and collecting antiques. She had a special place in her heart for all kinds of animals, orphan and injured, and especially horses. It’s no wonder her favorite scripture was Isaiah 11:6-9. She had a talent in writing poems. She loved music, especially the piano, and dancing. She started learning Spanish seven years ago to expand her ministry progressing to the point of teaching a class at the Urbandale Library with the hope of teaching people about the Bible in Mexico. She dedicated the last ten years of her life taking care of her parents, giving special attention to her mother, who she took care of every day.
Left to cherish her memory is her mother, Eloise Addy, her husband Lonny Perdue, her three children, Mindi Perdue, Brindi (Mark) Brown, Toby (Amy) Perdue, her four grandchildren Cody, Madison, Kylie, and Carlie and a host of others who loved her deeply. Joyce was preceded in death by her father William P. Addy Sr.
The family of Joyce Perdue wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the comforting messages and other expressions during our bereavement.
