Julia “Judy” Grob, 78, passed away on Wednesday September 3, 2025 with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, September 11, 2025 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at McLaren’s.
Julia was born in Rome, Georgia in 1946 and attended the University of Georgia; she loved her bulldogs. For the last 8 months she has been at Cedar Ridge Village in West Des Moines where she received excellent care. She was affectionately known as “Mommom”. Julia’s favorite flower was the yellow rose, and her husband gave her a dozen every anniversary.
Julia is survived by her husband of 58 years, Ted; two children, Tamara Senne and Ted Grob IV (Carrie); sister, Sarah Anderson (Hank) of Atlanta, GA; brother Joe Shabel (Kathy) of Long Beach, CA; four grandchildren, Meredith Davis (Ben), Jake Senne, Annie Grob, and Rosie Grob; and two great-grandchildren, Hudson and Hayes Davis.
The family would like to thank Cedar Ridge Village for the compassionate care they provided Julia over the past 8 months. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Animal Rescue League.
