Karen L. Welker, 75, passed away Monday, March 26, 2018 at Edgewater in West Des Moines. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2018 at West Des Moines Christian Church with burial at Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines. Visitation will from 12 Noon until service time at the church.
Karen was born August 5, 1942 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to Gordon and Isabel (Bond) Reid. She graduated from the University of Western Ontario-London and Toronto General Hospital School of Nursing. Karen worked as a nurse consultant for Blue Cross and she also worked as the Director of Nursing at Medicenter. She was a member of P.E.O.-KM Chapter and Widowed Persons of Central Iowa. Karen enjoyed the Edgewater singers, going out to eat, traveling, and going for walks.
Karen is survived by her twin brother, Kenneth (Marsha) Reid; niece, Christine (Kenneth) Lawley; nephews, Robert (Margie) Welker and Michael Welker; and many other great nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by her many friends. Karen was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 37 years, Bill.
