Kent Miller

Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 1200 S Warrior Ln, Waukee, IA 50263, with a one-hour Visitation before the Mass. The Entombment will be held at Resthaven Cemetery Mausoleum immediately following the service. There will be a time of food and fellowship following the burial at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel, 801 19th St, West Des Moines, IA 50265.

Kent Miller was born on August 29, 1950, in Denver, Colorado to Wilbur Castell and Viretta Ann (Shaw) Miller. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1968. Kent received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver in 1972. He continued his education and received his Juris Doctor Attorney from the University of Denver College of Law in 1975. Kent was united in marriage to Kathleen “Kathy” Strutzel on November 7, 2003, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines, Iowa.

Kent enjoyed travelling, fishing, photography, scuba diving, snorkeling, playing tennis, gardening, kayaking and canoeing. He grew up in Denver, Colorado and enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing in the Boundary Waters in Minnesota. He was a member of the Iowa State Bar Association. Kent was very kind and considerate, a caring man with a good sense of humor. He was known to be a good storyteller, and he dearly loved being around his family and friends.

Kent is survived by his wife of 22 years, Kathy; sister, Jill Miller (Thomas Williams); brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Craig and Lisa Strutzel; niece, Jessica (Casey) Spreitzer and great nephew, Jamie Spreitzer; and nephew, Mike (Courtney) Strutzel. Kent was preceded in death by his parents.
