Lloyd Armogan, a highly accomplished materials and Aerospace engineer and dedicated spiritual seeker, passed away on February 10, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born on September 6, 1945, in Fyrish, Guyana (then British Guiana) to Bethlyn Sookie Kharag and George Amiapen Armogan. He was the fourth of eight children.
Despite having less than a year of formal high school education, Lloyd became a teacher at his former elementary school at age 16. He later moved to the United States to pursue higher education, working as a janitor while attending the University of Cincinnati. He earned an AAS in Chemical Technology with honors, followed by a BS in Chemistry and an MS in Materials Science, specializing in polymeric materials.
Lloyd had a distinguished career as a Materials and Process Engineer, working for companies like Gillette, General Electric, Honeywell International, and Rockwell Collins Aerospace International. His research resulted in two published technical papers, one of which is archived in the Smithsonian-NASA Astrophysics Observatory Data System. He held two patents and received multiple industry awards, including Engineer of the Year.
In the second half of his life, Lloyd focused on spirituality. He practiced meditation and pursued a belief in a universal cosmic force rather than a traditional religious framework. He self-published two books of his beliefs and sought to share his own brand of wisdom with anyone and everyone.
While attending the University of Cincinnati, he met and later married Karen Guessner (deceased). They had two sons, Colin (deceased) and Brian. Lloyd’s beautiful grandchildren are, Theran, Nolan, Caleigh, Abby, and Elise.
Lloyd’s life spanned from his rural childhood in Guyana to building an accomplished career and a loving family and homelife in the United States. He passed in his sleep on his own terms. He will be remembered for his passion for seeking purpose and meaning and his generosity.
