Lois Ardell Bartlett, age 95, died Tuesday, May 12th, 2020 at Kennybrook Village, Grimes, IA. Lois was born January 29th, 1925 to Varlynn and Ruth Ayers in Valley City, North Dakota. Her parents moved to Sedro Wooley, Washington when she was 2 years of age. Lois had an older sister Evelyn and a younger brother, Don. Lois made her choice to serve God at age 11, a commitment she remained faithful to all the days of her life. She graduated with honors as the salutatorian of her class in 1943. Lois possessed a gift of music, playing as 1st chair violin in the high school orchestra and playing the piano by note or by ear. Upon high school graduation, she attended stenography school in Evert, Washington.
While living in Seattle, Lois met her husband Ronald Bartlett after he was discharged from the US Army in 1947 after serving in WW2. They were married December 23rd, 1949. Lois and Ron moved to Wausau, Nebraska in 1950 where Ron farmed with his father. They farmed in Marshalltown, Iowa in 1954 and then moved to Rockwell City, Iowa in 1960. In 1972, they moved to Urbandale, IA where Ron worked for the Iowa Farm Bureau and Lois worked at the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy for many years. Lois and Ron were married for 62 years. Lois is survived by three children, Mike of Huxley IA, Gary (Tracy) of La Quinta, CA and Randy (Gloria) of Allen, TX.; Five grandchildren (Tamara, Zachery, Toby, Kristin, Ben), and Eight great-grandchildren (McKenna, Mariah, Madisyn, Mateo, Teagen, Grayson, Ethan, Claire). Lois was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, her brother, and her husband. Lois and her husband served the Lord faithfully together for many years, and especially enjoyed fellowship, family and friends. Lois always had a wonderful smile that reflected a cheerful countenance and a sweet disposition. She was beloved and we shall cherish her memory.
A public visitation will be held from 3 to 6 pm on Sunday, May 17th at McLaren’s Chapel. A private family funeral will be held on Monday, May 18th, at McLaren’s Funeral Home at 11 am followed by a burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
