

Loretta Tippins peacefully died of dementia on February 2nd, 2024 at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center; three days short of her 99th birthday. A private family entombment will be held at Resthaven Cemetery Mausoleum in West Des Moines.
Loretta was born to Joe and Marie Bourey in Gillespie, Illinois on February 5, 1925. Loretta grew up in Gillespie and graduated from Gillespie Community High School in 1943. Raised catholic, at a young age, her strong and personal commitment began and was carried with her throughout her life. She was a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Des Moines.
On August 23, 1947, she married Thomas R. (Tip) Tippins and they were blessed to have enjoyed 59 years of marriage together. They moved to Des Moines for Tip’s job with AT&T, and here they were blessed with two children. Loretta was a devoted wife and mother and cherished being a mother. In her free time, she enjoyed a good game of bridge or a round of golf.
Left to cherish her memory, include her two children, Tom (Ann) Tippins of West Des Moines and Sandra Tippins of Arvada, Colorado; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one step-great grandchild. She is also survived by two sisters, JoAnn (Don) Pratt of Monticello, Illinois and Helen Fellin of Taylorville, Illinois.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Carol Ann Profaizer and Madeline Hrastich; and two brothers-in-law, Bill Fellin and William Hrastich.
