Melvin V. Burch, 82, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, August 19, 2015. Per Melvin’s wishes a private family service will be held with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Melvin was born in Valley Junction, Iowa the son of Joseph and Pearle (Tyler) Burch. He lived his entire life in West Des Moines and Clive. Melvin was the proud owner of Speedyway Disposal until retiring in 1977 and starting Mel-Lo Rental Company.
Melvin was an avid Hawkeye and Cubs fan. In retirement he enjoyed fishing with family and friends and sharing in his grandkids and great-grandkids successes.
He is survived by two sons, Don (Sandra) Burch and Kevin (Sheryl) Burch, both of West Des Moines; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his companion, Lois Young and her daughters, Paula and Pam Young. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lois Burch and a brother, Bill.
