

Ray Kreider Jr., 84, of Fenton, MO. and formerly of Des Moines, passed away Friday, June 3, 2011 at his home in Fenton. Funeral and Masonic services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with military rites at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at McLaren’s. Ray was born on February 15, 1927 in Des Moines the son of Ray and Margaret (Robbins) Kreider. He graduated from Des Moines Tech and served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946. The couple lived in Des Moines until 1965, Manitou Springs, CO from 1965 to 1990, Mesa, AZ from 1990 to 2010 and then Fenton, MO. He was a self employed motel owner. Ray was a member of Pioneer Masonic Lodge in Des Moines, Red Mountain Methodist Church, Mesa, a member of the Manitou Springs Volunteer Fire Department and the American Legion in all of the communities where he lived. He was dedicated to his family and helping those in need. Ray is survived by his wife of 66 years, Viola D. Kreider; two daughters; Judy (Jim) Baugus of Wildwood, MO, Charla Booker of Kit Carson, CO; 4 grandchildren, Jeff (Amy) Baugus, Mike (Jennifer) Baugus, Jason (Kristy) Booker and LouRae (Mitch) Rady; 10 great-grandchildren, Caden, Carissa, Abigail, Andrew and Brady Baugus, Cally, Payge and Shay Rady, Liberty and Justice Booker; two sisters Margie Gould and Betty Plumb and sister-in-law Dorothy Kreider all of Des Moines; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
