Richard Lewis Tabor, 71, died Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at Fountain West Nursing Home in West Des Moines. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at the Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines.
Rick was born October 1, 1948 in Newton, IA to Robert and Pauline (Alford) Tabor. He was a former resident of Newton and a graduate of Newton High School before relocating to West Des Moines. Rick was united in marriage to Midge (Buchanan) Tabor on October 15, 2000, in Las Vegas, NV. He was a Technology Recruiter “Headhunter” for most of his career life and proudly served 4 years in the U.S. Air Force. Rick attended the Lutheran Church of Hope, enjoyed helping and caring for others, leading, organizing and improving his homeowners association. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, other family and friends, and his adored cat, Kiki. Those who knew Rick know that he had a great sense of humor and enjoyed pranking people. Rick truly loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and working in the yard. He was an avid race fan and regularly took friends to the Iowa Speedway.
