Robert Eugene Peers, 83, passed away unexpectedly on March 27, 2022 at Kennybrook Village in Grimes. Bob was born on May 19, 1938 in Stuart, Iowa to Erastus and Minnie Peers. Bob grew up in the Valley Junction area of West Des Moines. He graduated from Valley High School in 1956 where he participated in football, basketball and track. While at Valley he met the love of his life, Charlene. Bob and Charlene were married on May 2, 1959 and shared 52 wonderful years together. He started his career in Sales before finding his true passion in Home Building and Remodeling. Bob and Charlene’s second home was at the Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri where they welcomed and entertained family and friends for over 25 years. Bob is survived by his three children, Steve (Cheryl) Peers, Kathleen (Terry) Janssen and David (Tracy) Peers. His brother Jim (Jackie) Peers, sisters in-law Debra (Steve) Patterson and Patricia Main. Bob (Grandpa) enjoyed spending time with his eight grandchildren, Chelsea (Andy) Goers, Zachary Janssen, Andrew (Maria) Peers, Jennifer (Ryan) Berning, Alyssa Peers, Jacob Peers, Johnathan Janssen and Katelynn Janssen. Great Grandpa to William Goers, Camden Berning, James Goers, Lily Peers and Carter Berning. Bob is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He is reunited with his loving wife Charlene, his parents, brother Bill and sister in-law Terry, mother and father in-law Raymond and Mildred Main and his brother in-law Larry Main.
A visitation for Robert will be held Saturday April 9, 2022 from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel, 801 19th Street, West Des Moines, Iowa followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. A private family burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
