Ronadel Lea (Clemens) Davis, 62 of Urbandale, Iowa went to be home with the Lord on Sunday, July 28, 2013. Surrounded by family, she passed away peacefully from Multiple Myeloma at Mercy Hospice in Johnston. A Celebration of Life will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines with burial at Resthaven Cemetery.
Ronni was born October 10, 1950 in Marshalltown, Iowa to Ronald Clemens and Adele (Wilkening) Smith. She was united in marriage to Donald Duane Davis on April 18, 1970. From this union two sons were born: Ryan and Darin. Ronni graduated from East High in 1968 and Drake University in 1974. She dedicated 38 years to the Des Moines Public School District. She began as a Special Education teacher and transitioned into the Physical Education Department, where she remained until retiring from Lincoln High School in 2012. Ronni was a Teacher of the Year in 1996. She was also a dedicated member of I.A.H.P.E.R.D. and Lutheran Church of Hope.
Ronni was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, playing tennis, cooking, and entertaining, but most of all, spending time with friends and family. Her strong will and kind-hearted personality made her an inspiration to everyone she knew.
She was a woman with a million dollar smile, who is survived by her husband of 43 years, Donald Davis; two sons, Ryan (Sarah) and grandchild Logan, and Darin Davis and friend, Betsy Craig; her mother, Adele Smith; siblings, David (Deb) Clemens, Tracy (Larry) Long and Stacy (Eric) Hoffman; father-in-law, Lunnon Davis; and nieces and nephews. Ronadel was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Clemens and mother-in-law, Irma Davis.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to American Cancer Society (Sandra J. Schulze Hope Lodge) or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa. Online condolences will be welcomed at www.mclarensresthavenchapel.com.
