Rosemary Mitchell went to be home with Jesus on August 2, 2025. A visitation will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel. The funeral for Rosemary will be on Monday, August 11, 2025, at 10:00am at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel. Burial will immediately follow the service at Jordan Cemetery in West Des Moines.
She was born on October 9, 1936, to Jose and Maria (Palacios) Enriquez in Valley Junction, Iowa. She attended school in the Valley School District. Following school, she was married and had three sons: Alan, Jerry, and Raymond. On September 16, 1978, Rosemary married the love of her life, Wayne Mitchell Jr. They lived their wonderful life together for almost 47 years in the Des Moines and Newton areas.
Rosemary devoted her life to her family. She spent time caring for her family and others. She loved babies so much, she made caring for them her career. Rosemary provided so much devotion, commitment, and love to the children in her life. She would welcome everyone into her life, accepting them with open arms. Rosemary’s favorite thing would be to hold the babies, kiss their feet, and sing to them in Spanish. She became everyone’s favorite abuela.
While being beautiful herself, Rosemary filled her house with beautiful things. She loved interior decorating and making her home and garden feel (and smell) like home. Rosemary enjoyed taking long walks, taking people with her if she could convince them. She was an avid reader, especially romance novels, spiritual guides, and The Bible. Rosemary loved The Lord, and simply telling everyone (and anyone) about Him.
Rosemary embodied God’s Divine Light, which shone through her eyes and in her actions and the way she lived her life.
Rosemary is survived by her husband, Wayne Mitchell; children, Alan (Kristy) Carrington, Jerry (Penny) Carrington, Raymond Carrington, and Scott Mitchell; sister, Linda Shelton; siblings-in-law, Dennis (Mina) Mitchell, Pamela Boyd, Terry Mitchell, Kevin (Debi) Mitchell, and Mark Mitchell; grandchildren, Eric (Lauren), Brandon, Trish, Amanda (Dustin), Tara, Shari (Aaron), Nathan, Adam, Alex, Nicole, Ryan (Mandi), and Christian; great- grandchildren, Anthony, Tristan, Evan, Aydan, Jameson, Harper, Avery, Blake, Brenton, Grace, Adrieanah (Gavin), Ella, McKinzley, Drew, Brooks, Aztlan (Madison), Angel, Azaleah, Aleena, Jensyn, Sawyer, Cali, Amira; great-great grandchildren, Paxon, Judah, and Eloise. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Maria Enriquez; siblings, Frank (Beatrice), Jospehine, Angelina, Virginia, and Mary Lou; and parents- in- law, Wayne Mitchell Sr. and Margaret Janak.
