Rosemary Kay Orput, 85, passed away August 20, 2023 at Vintage Hills in Indianola. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date. Inurnment will be at Resthaven Mausoleum. Check back for more details at a later date.
She was born on June 20, 1938 in Falls City, Nebraska to John and Rose Eitel. Rosie attended the University of Nebraska. In 1959, she met the love of her life, Harry Thomas Orput. They married in 1960 and had two children, Jill and John. In 1978, Rosie and Harry opened Gene Ann’s Hallmark in Ankeny, Iowa, and later opened a store in Boone, Iowa.
Rosie’s grandchildren were everything to her and she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with them. She was a long-time member of the Hyperion Country Club and enjoyed painting, playing piano, gardening, traveling and spending time with lifelong friends. Rosie and Harry spent much of their retirement in Sarasota, Florida and loved the beach.
Rosie is survived by her son, John (Shannon) Orput; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Tyler) Regan, J.J. Orput, and Tessa Orput. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Orput and daughter, Jill Orput.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa or AHeinz57 Pet Rescue and Transport.
