Born and raised in Alden, Iowa, Tully later moved to Missouri to attend Northwest Missouri State University, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in English. After graduation, she and Joe settled in West Des Moines, marrying in 2005. Tully began her career at Wells Fargo shortly after college, where she dedicated more than 20 years, ultimately serving as a Learning & Development Manager.
Tully was a proud and dedicated wife and mother. Her sons, Theo (18) and Tucker (16) were the heart of her world, and she poured herself into every moment of their lives. Whether volunteering on the sidelines for Theo’s soccer games, lending a hand at school events, or simply being their biggest supporter. Tully’s giving spirit extended beyond her family. Having received the gift of life through the Iowa Donor Network, she cherished the two and a half more years with her family. In gratitude, she became a passionate advocate, volunteering to share her story, and encouraging others to give the same gift.
As a lifelong lover of books, Tully found joy in the quiet moments with a good book, as well as in the loud, laughter-filled moments with her boys. Her humor, smile, and dedication to her family will always be remembered.
Tully will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 20 years, Joseph Jackson; her sons, Theo and Tucker; her parents, Clareen and Steve Markwardt; her brother, Troy (Amy) Sielaff; her sister-in-law Jennifer (David) Jackson; her brother-in-law, Jeff (Jamie) Jackson; her nieces and nephews, Chainee (John) Iriarte, Henry and Hannah Felsen, Lane and Logan Jackson, Cooper, Kinnick and Roger Sielaff; her great-niece and nephews; and countless friends whose lives she touched. She was preceded in death by her father, Roger Sielaff, and her mother-in-law, June Modlin.
A celebration for Tully’s life will be held on Saturday, August 23rd from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Valley Junction Activity Center in the Ballroom at 217 5th Street in West Des Moines, with a prayer and eulogy at 3:00 p.m. Friends and family are welcome to come and go or stay as they wish, just time together to remember and honor her. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in her name to the Iowa Donor Network or the Iowa Weimaraner Rescue. Or honor her memory in the way she lived- by reading a good book, volunteering in your community, or cheering on someone you love.
