Verla L. Davis, 89, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from the effects of Alzheimer’s disease at Spurgeon Manor in Dallas Center, Iowa. Verla was the daughter of Jack and Letha Burke, who preceded her in death along with her husband Ron and son, Kirk.
Verla, born in Danbury, Iowa, graduated from Oto High School then moved to Sioux City where she married Ron Davis in 1946 and raised her family. In 1973 Verla and her family moved to the Des Moines area where she began her career as a savings officer in the banking industry. In retirement, Verla and Ron traveled the western U.S. in their R.V. and eventually settled in Mesa, Arizona. She enjoyed golf, ma jong and singing in the community choral group.
Verla leaves behind her sons, Michael of Sioux City, Iowa, Dennis of Adel, Iowa, Gregory of Memphis, Tennessee and Mark of Adel, Iowa; daughter, Jana of Portland, Oregon; brother, Duane of Sioux City, Iowa; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Her cremated remains will be interred with Ron during a ceremony in Sioux City at Memorial Park Cemetery on July 3, 2014 at 11 a.m.
