Wanda C. Overton, 83, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 in Des Moines. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 9 at McLaren’s Chapel in West Des Moines with burial following at Jordan Cemetery in West Des Moines. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Wanda was born in the small West Des Moines, IA community of Commerce on May 25, 1932 to Von and Bessie (Squires) Robertson. Prior to retiring from Midwest Mutual Insurance Company after over 20 years, she was a nurse's aide and worked at the same West Des Moines facility as her two sisters, a sister-in-law and niece.

Wanda was always willing to jump in the car for extended car rides, trips to her favorite store, Kmart, and would only do her grocery shopping at Dahl's. She will also be remembered for her extensive collection of decorated sweatshirts for every holiday and season.

She is survived by a son, Michael; daughter, Roxanne, both of Des Moines; son, David Viers of California, daughter, Connie Wuhs of Arkansas; three grandsons; sisters, Viola Ashdown of Altoona and Virginia Overton of West Des Moines; and brother, Ronnie Robertson of Mitchellville. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Laura Nichols, Thelma Wright, Pearl Hockett, and LaVerne Lamb; and brother, Vaughn Robertson.
