Wendi Lyn Taylor, 65, met her Lord and Savior Monday, March 2, 2026 at UnityPoint Methodist in Des Moines after a brief 10 days in the hospital. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2026 at McLaren’s Resthaven Chapel in West Des Moines followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
Wendi was born June 26, 1960 in Panama while her father was serving in the U.S. Army. She grew up in DeWitt, IA and graduated from Central Community High School in 1978. Following graduation she attended the American Institute of Business (AIB) in Des Moines. During her work life, she discovered a love of singing and after some vocal lessons began performing at the Ingersoll Dinner Theater, which was a major joy in her life. After graduating from AIB, Wendi rented a room in a family’s home to save on costs and met someone who led her to the Lord. She attended a couple of churches before ending up at Commerce Community Church in West Des Moines. Ministry was a huge part of her life. Wendi loved to sing and was a crucial part of the music ministry at Commerce. She ministered at a few nursing homes over the years and was blessed to travel to Israel, Cuba and Mexico on missionary trips. She also earned a Bachelor of Theology and Master of Ministry degree through Shalom Bible College.
Wendi worked as a typesetter early in her career and also worked for John Deere Credit on construction equipment contracts, bill collections and as a crop insurance underwriter over the course of time. She got into crop insurance through a connection at the Ingersoll Dinner Theater and spent the majority of her crop insurance career at Farmers Mutual Hail Insurance Company, working there until her retirement.
After her retirement, Wendi tried a couple of jobs but then received a phone call from Jack and Chris Tank who were looking for an experienced underwriter to assist them. Wendi proceeded to work for Ag Risk Insurance until her passing.
