Wes Fouche, 79, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019, with his loving wife Sue and sister Barb by his side. Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m., January 11, 2019, at McLaren's Chapel, 801 19th Street, West Des Moines with visitation one hour prior to service time. As per Wes's wishes a private burial service will be held for the family at a later date.
Wes was born on October 12, 1939, to Chet and Hazel Fouche of Osceola, Iowa. He graduated from Osceola High School with the class of 1957. Wes operated a Pester Derby station in Chariton, Iowa, in the mid 60’s, and thereafter worked for the Pester Corporation until 1985. Wes married Sue Rankin in 1982. In 1985 they purchased a Dairy Queen (DQ) Store in West Des Moines, and later Wes became a partner in 2 other stores and worked in these stores until retirement in 2003. Throughout his DQ ownership he was an active member of the DQ Associations. Through his involvement in the associations he made many lifelong friends.
Wes and Sue loved their trips abroad, as well as, cherished their time spent traveling in their motor homes. Wes was very proud of their accomplishment of visiting all 50 states. In 2006 they began spending their winters in Arizona where Wes enjoyed his good friends of Silveridge. Wes’s hobbies included fishing (especially at Lake Rathbun, Canada & Lake of the Ozarks), playing cards and billiards with his buddies (aka his partners in crime).
Wes will be fondly remembered for the gentleman that he was, his quick wit, humor and storytelling. He loved his time spent with friends and his greatest treasure was the relationships he built with his blended family. Wes was a grateful friend of Bill W.
His parents Chet and Hazel Fouche, brothers-in-law Jim Hadley and Jim Raymond, preceded Wes in death. Surviving are his wife, Sue, his children Tomie Fouche of Miami, OK, Tina Rosewall of Leon, IA,John (Bea) Fouche of Urbandale, Iowa, Julie (Kirk) Wulff, Davenport, IA and step-children Wendy (Jim) Frost and Karla Rankin both of Winterset, Iowa, 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, his brother Wendell & wife Marlene, sisters Bev Raymond, and Barb Hadley as well as several nieces, nephews and good friends.
