Blanche Theresa Keohane, 91, died peacefully on May 24th at Pleasant Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation in Brewster. A longtime West Harwich resident, she was the youngest daughter of Dennis J. Keohane and Blanche Aletha Rowley Keohane.
Blanche lived at home in West Harwich with her parents and later with her sister Evelyn before Evelyn's death in 2003. She had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh. If she greeted you with a big grin, you knew a joke was soon to follow. Blanche was generous and kind to her fellow residents, delivering the newspaper to those who could not get up to get their own and sharing her own newspaper when she was done reading. She had an eye for style and was always well-dressed. Her closet was full of lovely outfits thanks to her sister, Genevieve, and later Genevieve's daughters. She put on makeup every day and set her own hair every night.
Blanche was predeceased by her parents and her five siblings; Evelyn Savini, Genevieve Burlingame, J. John Keohane (Jack), Kenneth Keohane, and Robert Keohane. She is survived by her niece Carol Porter and 21 other nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held at the Doane, Beal, & Ames Funeral Home, 260 Main St., West Harwich, on Thursday, June 9th from 5-7 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Trinity Church, West Harwich, on Friday, June 10th at 10 AM. Blanche will be laid to rest with her parents in Highland Cemetery - Norwood, MA on Monday, June 13, 2022 at 11:00 AM
Blanche's family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to all the staff at the Pleasant Bay Nursing and Rehab for their kindness and extraordinary care while Blanche was with them.
