

Rich enlisted in the United States Navy after graduating from Attleboro High School. He was stationed in Great Lakes, Illinois where he met his future wife Marilyn June Gross. Rich and Marilyn moved to Charleston, South Carolina where Rich was deployed out to sea. When Rich was discharged from the United States Navy in 1961, they moved to Gering, Nebraska to be close to Marilyn’s parents. They welcomed the birth of their adored daughter, Rachelle Ann and remained in Nebraska until the fall of 1984 relocating to Harwich.
Rich enjoyed breeding and raising racing pigeons, He worked at Crocker’s Nurseries where he retired after many years. He volunteered at the Food Pantry of Cape Cod. Rich was an active parishioner of Holy Trinity Church.
Rich is predeceased by his parents Charlie and Anita, his adored wife Marilyn, beloved daughter Rachelle Ann (Graveline) Sonnabend, and niece Erin Leigh Graveline. Rich is survived by his cherished grandson Cody Richard Sonnabend, his brother Dale Robert Graveline and sister-in-law Susan Walsh Graveline of Harwich, nephews Tyler Jonathan Graveline and Logan Tyler Graveline, great niece Penny Leigh Graveline, and special nephew Jeffrey Hamernik (Maria), many cousins, friends, and neighbors.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 11:00 AM in Holy Trinity Church, Rt. 28, West Harwich followed by placement in the Holy Trinity Memorial Wall.
Rich was very grateful to the nurses and doctors at the Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis and Regal Care in Harwich.
