Leonard Heap, 84, passed away peacefully at home on April 2, 2022. Lenny, as he was best known by friends and loved ones, was born in New Bedford, MA. He was the son of the late Leonard and Sarah (Openshaw) Heap.
Lenny was proud to play for the football team for Wareham High School where he graduated in 1956. He served a brief time in the Navy Reserves before moving to the Cape where he has since resided. He was employed for Com Electric for more than 30 years before retiring to enjoy life.
Lenny was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He enjoyed researching Civil War history, gardening, fishing, his camp in Maine and spending time with family and friends.
Lenny is predeceased by his brother, Kevin Heap. He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Lynn, his son Jason and his wife Terri of Sagamore Beach, his 5 daughters; Lisa Becker and her husband Grant of Tierra Verde, FL., Cindy Carlton of Bradenton, FL., Cheryl Rogers and her husband Roy of Boca Raton, FL., Trudy Martin of Harwich, MA., Wendy Heap of Sandwich, MA., a step-son, Thomas West of Ocoee, FL., 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
He will be lovingly missed by all as we send him into the open arms of our Lord.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday April 23, 2022 at 10:00AM at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in West Harwich. Burial will follow at Island Pond Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s.
