Born in Auburn MA on February 12, 1925, Roy was the son of the late Sidney McLean and Ethel (Davidson) Mclean. His sister, Elsie Hines, predeceased him.
Roy was the husband of the late Mary (Twohey) McLean for almost 60 years. He leaves behind his children Linda McLean, Sharon (McLean) Small and her husband Robert, Cathy McLean, and his son Keith Mclean.
Roy’s early years were spent on his family’s farm in Auburn before going off to serve his country in Germany during WWII. After returning from the war, he met the love of his life Mary. It was love at first sight and they were soon married and started a family together. In 1970, Roy moved his family to Chatham to pursue his dream of opening his own business, Canvas Crafters.
Mac loved the outdoors. He spent his leisure time sailing his Hobie Cat, boating, fishing, gardening, and relaxing on the beach. Most of all, Mac treasured the time he spent with family and friends.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, January 14, at the Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 260 Main Street (route 28), West Harwich, beginning at 10 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
