Alicia F. Gonzalez-Longoria Munilla De Sotillo

Alicia “Lily” F. Gonzalez-Longoria Munilla de Sotillo, passed away on July 23rd, 2024 surrounded by her family. Lily was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She was born on September 6, 1933 in Gibara Oriente, Cuba to Felipe Gonzalez-Longoria Munilla and Isabel Munilla Corella.

Lily settled near Puerto Padre, Cuba after marrying José R. Sotillo (Pepito) and with him had three children - Jose Alberto, Walter Armando, and Raquel Alicia. She had four great passions in life: her family, her Spanish heritage, flowers and swimming. Lily was an extremely talented flower arrangement designer, and used those talents with the roses Pepito cultivated to distribute flowers and arrangements all around Cuba. Together with Pepito, she left Cuba with her family to flee communism and to provide a better life for her children and, eventually, her grandchildren. They moved to Madrid, Spain to reunite with family and start their new life. Although she eventually settled in West Palm Beach, Florida, her love for Spain and her Spanish heritage never wavered. She made sure to pass that same passion for Spain on to her children and grandchildren. She was proud of her family’s history, especially about the palace, El Palacio Longoria in Madrid, that her grandfather, Don Francisco Javier Gonzalez-Longoria Lopez del Vallado, had commissioned to be built as his home and had sold before moving to Cuba.

She worked for Phillips Corporation where she had many roles she was proud of. From there, she retired and dedicated her life to her family. Her grandchildren, whom she loved and adored, became her biggest purpose in life. She lived to take care of them, play with them, travel with them and, eventually, watch them grow into business professionals. She was a strong and beautiful woman. She loved the ocean and was an excellent swimmer. She enjoyed the finer things in life. Her faith and family were of utmost importance for her.

She is survived by her children, Jose A. (Lidia), grandchildren Christopher and Melissa (Addiel), great-granddaughter Amelia Esperanza; Walter A. (Carmen), grandsons Walter Jr. and Anthony; Raquel A., grandchildren Natalia A. and Alfredo D. Lily is also survived by her sister, America Chacon.

All are invited to a Holy Catholic Mass in celebration of her beautiful life on August 1 at 11:30 am at St. Luke Catholic Church 2892 S Congress Ave, Palm Springs, FL 33461.

Following Mass, we will proceed to Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery located at 10941 Southern Blvd, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411 to say farewell, until we meet again in Heaven.

Alicia "Lily" F. Gonzalez-Longoria Munilla de Sotillo falleció el 23 de julio de 2024 rodeada de su familia. Lily fue una esposa, madre, abuela, bisabuela, hermana y amiga cariñosa. Nació el 6 de septiembre de 1933 en Gibara Oriente, Cuba, hija de Felipe Gonzalez-Longoria Munilla e Isabel Munilla Corella.

Lily se estableció cerca de Puerto Padre, Cuba, después de casarse con José R. Sotillo (Pepito) y con él tuvo tres hijos: José Alberto, Walter Armando y Raquel Alicia. Tuvo cuatro grandes pasiones en la vida: su familia, su herencia española, las flores y la natación. Lily era una diseñadora de arreglos florales extremadamente talentosa y utilizó esos talentos con las rosas que Pepito cultivaba para distribuir flores y arreglos por toda Cuba. Junto con Pepito, dejó Cuba con su familia para huir del comunismo y proporcionar una vida mejor a sus hijos y, eventualmente, a sus nietos. Se trasladaron a Madrid, España, para reunirse con la familia y comenzar su nueva vida. Aunque finalmente se estableció en West Palm Beach, Florida, su amor por España y su herencia española nunca vaciló. Se aseguró de transmitir esa misma pasión por España a sus hijos y nietos. Estaba orgullosa de la historia de su familia, especialmente del palacio, El Palacio Longoria en Madrid, que su abuelo, Don Francisco Javier Gonzalez-Longoria López del Vallado, había mandado construir como su hogar y había vendido antes de mudarse a Cuba.

Trabajó para la Corporación Phillips, donde desempeñó muchos roles de los cuales estaba orgullosa. De allí se retiró y dedicó su vida a su familia. Sus nietos, a quienes amaba y adoraba, se convirtieron en su mayor propósito en la vida. Vivió para cuidarlos, jugar con ellos, viajar con ellos y, eventualmente, verlos crecer como profesionales. Fue una mujer fuerte y hermosa. Amaba el océano y era una excelente nadadora. Disfrutaba de las cosas buenas de la vida. Su fe y su familia eran de suma importancia para ella.

Le sobreviven sus hijos, José A. (Lidia), nietos Christopher y Melissa (Addiel), bisnieta Amelia Esperanza; Walter A. (Carmen), nietos Walter Jr. y Anthony; Raquel A., nietos Natalia A. y Alfredo D. Lily también es sobrevivida por su hermana, América Chacón.

Todos están invitados a una Santa Misa Católica en celebración de su hermosa vida el 1 de agosto a las 11:30 am en St. Luke Catholic Church, 2892 S Congress Ave, Palm Springs, FL 33461.

Después de la Misa, procederemos al cementerio Our Lady Queen of Peace, ubicado en 10941 Southern Blvd, Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411, para decir adiós, hasta que nos volvamos a encontrar en el cielo.
