It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Beryl Maud Brown nee Rodney (Miss Beryl, Mrs. Brown, mama, grandma), who transitioned from this life on May 24, 2025, at the age of 94 in West Palm Beach, Florida, United States.
Born on October 3, 1930, in Brown’s Town, St. Ann, Jamaica, she lived a life devoted to her faith in Jesus Christ, her family, her fellowship with others, and her field of business. She was known for having a generous spirit and a thoughtful and selfless nature. She had a fashionable sense of style and carried herself with grace and poise. Her home and heart were always open. She was a devoted prayer warrior and encourager who inspired many through her faith. But make no mistake, she didn’t take any mess, and she did it all with class. She was a loving wife and mother, preceded in death by her husband, Samuel Brown. She was matriarch of five generations and her legacy lives on through four generations of love, including her seven children (one deceased) with six surviving, Beverly, Errol, Lorraine, Patricia, Marcia, and Sandra,15 grandchildren, multiple great-grand and great-great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
Beryl was an entrepreneur by profession but a philanthropist by heart. She possessed extraordinary talents. She was a seamstress who made gowns of the highest quality, including wedding gowns, bridesmaid dresses, and other formal wear. One of her creations was the evening gown for the crowned Miss Jamaica 1973. She was the Avon District Representative for West Palm Beach for over 20 years and was awarded the President’s plaque several times. Everything she did was done with excellence.
A philanthropist at heart she was always willing to help those around her. Whenever she was made aware that someone needed assistance, she went out of her way to help. She loved her church and was a very active member until 2022, continuing to worship virtually, praising God to her very last breath. At 94, she was sharper than ever, tech-savvy, and very quick-witted. We will miss her jokes and her laughter.
A viewing service will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, 5 pm-8 pm at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens, 5601 Greenwood Ave, West Palm Beach, FL, 33407. Her celebration of life will be on Saturday, June 21, 2025,12.30pm at Covenant Centre International, 9153 Roan Ln, West Palm Beach, FL 33403. Interment will follow at the Royal Palm Memorial Gardens.
Our family thanks everyone for the outpouring of love and support during this very difficult period of bereavement. Your words of comfort have helped us tremendously. Her presence will be dearly missed, but her love and legacy lives on through us, forever.
