Daniel O'Brien

At the young age of 91, Daniel "Dan" Joseph O'Brien (Jupiter, Florida) decided that it was time to peacefully rest on January 18, 2026 - preferably somewhere peaceful with good company, unlimited pool days, and absolutely no need for a pocket calendar. Born on November 24, 1934, Dan lived through nearly a century of hard work, dedication to his family and friends, and countless changes throughout the decades (even becoming active daily on Facebook!). He proudly served in the United States Navy. After his time in the service, he spent his years working at RCA Corp and Pratt & Whitney Aircraft. Following retirement, he worked part time at PGA National.

Dan was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and companion. He is remembered by many for his quick wit, timeliness, and love for good music and dancing. A lifelong Bostin Celtics and Detroit Tigers fan, he found joy in supporting his teams and never missing a game.

He spent many enjoyable years in bowling leagues, earning plenty of strikes along the way with scorecards to prove it. In basketball leagues, he was known for his steady play, competitive spirit, and enduring love of the game.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Jane O'Brien; parents, Margaret Ruskay and John O'Brien. Dan is survived by his longtime companion, Myrna Berman; his children, Cindy (Jim) Coates, Leslie (Chris) Conover, and Patrick O'Brien; his grandchildren, Tyler (Sarah) Coates, Josh (Danielle) Coates, Alexis Coates (James) Heatherly, Christian Conover, Zachary Conover, and Hunter (Isabella) Conover; his great-grandchildren, Trevor, Faith, and Gabe Coates, Hudson and Parker Coates, and Lillian Conover; his sister, Joan Hausman, and half-brother, Russ Ruskay.

A service will be held to honor his memory on January 24, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in his honorto a local hospice or charity of your choice.

His constant presence, humor, and love for his family will never be forgotten.
