Dawn Marie Underwood of West Palm Beach, FL, passed away on Sunday September 17, 2023 surrounded by friends, loved ones, and her cherished “critters,” her dogs Ziggy, Thomas, and Miss Dog. She was born on January 12, 1956, and married her soulmate, the late Ray “Dawg” Underwood when she was 20 years old. Dawn was a spunky spitfire of a woman who lived life to the fullest, but only after she had her first cup of coffee on her front porch each morning. She was always the life of the party, dancing and singing unabashedly. Future parties with friends and family will be just a bit quieter - anyone who knew her could hear her and her laugh a mile down the road!
Dawn loved her animals and the local wildlife, like the ducks who frequented her backyard pond over the years and the squirrels, birds, and lizards who would taunt her pets. She often donated to animal shelters and marine life causes, for her beloved manatees and sea turtles. The beach was a special place for Dawn, especially the ones where she could take her dogs. An avid traveler and foodie, Dawn loved meeting people from all cultures, listening to their stories, and learning about their lives.
As we say goodbye to Dawn, her family and friends will take comfort that she will finally be reunited in Heaven with Ray and their many rescued critters. She’s probably serenading them with a Celine Dion song.
In lieu of a service, a celebration of life party will be held in her honor in the near future. While she loved flowers, please consider a donation to Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League (peggyadams.org) or Wild Dolphin Project (wilddolphinrescue.org) in her honor.
