Inés “Chiquitica” Alvaré, 96, of West Palm Beach, journeyed peacefully to her eternal home with our Lord and Savior on Friday, April 13, 2018. Chiquitica, daughter of the late José and the late Juana Elvira, was born in Cuba. She had three siblings: Wenseslao, Edmundo, y Lidia.
Chiquitica married her late husband, Plácido Armando Alvaré, her high school sweetheart, and had a daughter, Lourdes. In 1972, the family left Cuba to Spain and lived there until 1974, when they emigrated to the United States, settling in Belle Glade, Florida. Sadly, Chiquitica was predeceased by her husband in 1977. She dedicated herself to raising their daughter in Belle Glade, and in 1986, moved to West Palm Beach, where resided until her passing. When her grandchildren arrived, she helped care for them, becoming a great influence in their lives.
Chiquitica enjoyed cooking and reading, especially the magazines Hola and Vanidades. Although she did not speak English, she would read the Palm Beach Post daily and inform the family of all the day’s news. She especially enjoyed her weekly weekend trips to the different area malls where she loved to window shop.
Chiquitica is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, parents, and siblings and is survived by her daughter; her niece, Juanita, and husband, Ibrahim; her grandchildren, Nalio, Arianna, and Liuba; her great-grandchildren, Ariella, Isabella and C.J.; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
