

Jean was born February 13, 1926, in WPB at Good Samaritan Hospital, the oldest child of the late Charles Frederick and Carolyn Gates.
Jean and her siblings were all born and raised in WPB. She was a 1944 graduate of Palm Beach High School.
She was a lifelong member of the Union Congregational Church of WPB.
She was passionate about bowling, bingo and cards. She loved playing the piano.
She worked for different credit unions and ended her working career retiring from the county. She is survived by her six children: Phillip Clark (Sherry) Sprague of Denver, CO; Shelley (Edwin) Curtis of PBG; Ted (Sharon) Sprague of Sevierville, TN; H. Reed (Rhonda) Sprague Jr. of Ellijay, GA; David (Beth) Sprague Sr. of PBG; and Jeanne Ann Hoover of Haverhill, 16 grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren, brother Charles Gates , sister Helen Irene King, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. She is also survived by her special aide/helper/companion, Marie Holgate, who our whole family owes a debt of gratitude for her loving care.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Herbert Reed Sprague Sr.; 2 sisters – Carolyn Stillman and Ruth Compton; granddaughter Michelle Sprague and grandson Chad Sprague.The family will receive visitors on Monday, March 21, 2016, between the hours of 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., at Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 6411 Parker Ave., WPB 33405. There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 10 a.m. also at Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 6411 Parker Ave., WPB 33405 followed by a graveside service at Hillcrest Memorial Park, WPB.The family asks that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Trustbridge Hospice, 5300 East Avenue, WPB 33407.
